Janine Fletcher
Rehearsal Director
Janine is a choreographer and performer with a curiosity for what moves us emotionally emotionally and how this moves us physically.
Janine began her professional training at Northern School of Contemporary Dance and completed her studies with a Dance and Visual Art Degree from the University of Brighton. Her lead tutor was the anarchic dancer, Professor Liz Aggiss.
Janine has worked across cabaret, dance, theatre and live art. Her solo Trace Elements will be performed at Tanzmesse 2016 and was directed by theatre-maker Sue MacLaine (Can I Start Again Please).
Janine recently choreographed Cleopatra’s death for The Complete Deaths (Spymonkey / Tim Crouch) and will be working with Wet Picnic on their new large scale show The Ball. She has created outdoor physical theatre shows with Bicycle Ballet and was a core team member of performance parkour company The Urban Playground Team.
Janine has worked as choreographer / movement coach with individual artists including theatre-maker Sue MacLaine, experimental pianist Sarah Nicolls and performer Victoria Melody. Janie is one-half of dance-comedy duo The Two Wrongies, who recently appeared as The Rockin’ Itchy Bit Sisters in Hercules (New Art Club).
With 20 years of teaching experience, Janine teaches across ages and abilities drawing on a multitude of dance styles and performance forms. Janine also works as Assistant Programme Manager at the Nightingale (Brighton) and as part-time administrator for VDT. She is very excited to be working alongside Fernanda Prata as rehearsal Director for VDT’s VIRGIN TERRITORY.
