James transitioned from gymnastics to street dance when he was 11 by joining StreetFunk, a Brighton based company. Over two years he worked to become part of their elite crew, ‘Unique’ which launched him into performances and competitions across Sussex for the next two years. James moved to Universal Dance due to a change of location and after audition, became a member of their performance crew, ‘Graffiti,’ as the first male dancer. Here James’ interest in Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz and Modern dance began to widen. James pushed further into solo performance, whilst consolidating and refining his techniques. But drawn back to the community aspects of choreography and collaboration James auditioned for VDT in Summer 2017.

SHUT DOWN is James’ first production with VDT.
