Ellen Van Schuylenburch

Ellen van Schuylenburch trained at the Rotterdam Dance Academy and after graduating danced with Nederlands Dans Theater. She then left for New York to train at the Cunningham Studio and to develop her skills as a free lance dancer with many key post modern choreographers including Bill T Jones, David Gordon, Karole Armitage and Jim Self. She is a founder member of the Michael Clark Company and later the Laurie Booth Company touring nationally and internationally. Ellen has taught company class for many professional companies, including Rambert, Random, Michael Clark Company and Arc Dance and schools like SEAD Salzburg, Skole For Moderne Dans Copenhagen and the Central School of Ballet. Most recently Ellen has been rehearsal director for the Richard Alston Dance Company and the Russell Maliphant Company. She has taught extensively worldwide and has recently worked with the undergraduate students on the BA programme at Laban. Ellen met Charlotte in 2006 at a choreographic mentoring course, led by Jonathan Burrows in Findhorn, Scotland. Ellen was invited to join the Stand Up research in 2007, a period of intense research initiated by Vincent Dance Theatre.
